The finals for our Rockabilly shoot

I met up with Jan Ras (New Media) today to get the images for the Rockabilly shoot.  Jan is one of those seriously capable techno gadgetty (not sure if gadgetty is a word, if not, I am making it up!!) people.  He owns a MAC and can transform a single image with one click of a button.  I, on the other hand, have explained my phobia of all things appliance or computary in a few of my previous posts.   Imagine the silent state of panic I go into as I realise that I only brought two discs…  I needed three.  One for each model and one for the stylist.  Jan copied the CD’s for me and I dropped one off at Ice models.  Now I only have one left…I had no choice… someone wasn’t getting a disc.  Who would it be.  Mmmmn.  As I copied the disc for myself  I noticed a ‘burn’ button…I thought “Mmmmm, what does this button do?” and pressed it after putting in a clean disc.

What do you know!!  I burnt my very first disc today…  Yes, I am silly, but oh yes, I am even more impressed with my silly old self!!

The LEEF Cover

Have you seen the October issue of Leef Magazine?

If not, go get it soon…

It was styled by Misi Overturf and the stunning pics are taken by Johan Wilke.

Rockabilly mens shoot with Jan Ras

I search for references all the time.  I snuggle up in bed with my laptop and look for inspiration…  I was looking for something to shoot with men as I have very little grooming shots in my book and that’s when I found some stunning shots that reminded me of my mates in London.  I then phoned my friend Jan and said:  “We have to shoot a Rockabilly story!!”  I downloaded some references, but in the end my main inspiration was Danny, Fabio and Paulo… some old friends from London.   They are ROCK n ROLL.  They eat, drink and sleep ROCK n ROLL.  I will post some pics of the boys so you can see what I mean…

Jan Ras (New Media) shot these  last weekend.  It was styled by Nicole Nel (HSM).  The models:  James from Ice and Tyrone from Fusion.  I didn’t want to copy the look from my friends, I only wanted to bring some elements into the shoot that reminded me of them.  I can’t wait for the final shots…

In the meantime, here are some snapshots I took of screen…as usual.

Living Spaces Magazine

Last week I was fortunate enough to shoot with Sarah from HSM again.  I think we make a great team, especially under the art direction of Michele.

We did a beauty segment for Living Spaces Magazine.  It was all about African wedding hairstyles.  I love these shots.  they are clean and very striking!  Keep an eye out for the magazine.

lots of love x
